In February, PwC published the Philippine Startup Survey, which showed promising data on the growth of startups in the Philippines. However, the disruption brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic caused major changes throughout the Philippine startup landscape. We have recently completed a review of our alumni program, where we were able to interview 37 out of our 46 active startups. We are pleased to report that, to date, 32 of the 37 active startups that responded to the review have made Php338.23M in gross revenue for 2019. Eleven startups have raised over Php100 million outside of IdeaSpace, with ticket sizes ranging from 500,000-37 million. In January, we organized a meeting between our Chairman, Manuel V. Pangilinan, and our top three startups from last year’s cohort—Experience Philippines, Cocotel, and Airship—so that representatives from the three startups can share their plans for the near future and the potential collaborations with companies within the Metro Pacific group.
Last year, we announced that we have partnered with Google’s Powered by Launchpad program. Google has recently folded all of its programs, including the Powered by Launchpad program, into its Google for Startups program, consolidating all of its startup-related activities under one platform. This gives IdeaSpace access to a larger network and to the resources provided to incubators and accelerators under Google for Startups.
